A physician or cosmetic scientist who has made a major contribution to the field of cosmetic dermatology presents the Eugene J. Van Scott, MD Lectureship at each World Congress of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology (IACD) Originally established in 2003 as the Gold Medal of the IACD, it was later changed to honor Dr. Van Scott for his many contributions to the field of dermatology and especially to the area of cosmetic dermatology. Doctor Van Scott served as Chief of the Dermatology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, MD and later as Deputy Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Among his many accomplishments are the establishment of the skin turnover time and applications of the alpha- and beta- hydroxy acids for use in cosmetic dermatology.
